2021 Season Update

Greetings from Sabourin Lake Lodge,

We hope this letter finds you well and staying safe.

These past few months have been a roller coaster of ups and downs due to Covid-19 and Mother Nature. Given this year’s uncertainty we have made the decision to cancel the 2021 fishing season and prepare for our re-opening in May 2022.

We hope that the pandemic will be a distant memory by then.

Last week our federal government made the decision to extend the non-essential travel ban and to keep the border closed between the USA and Canada until July 21, 2021. This decision is re-evaluated every month. The vaccine roll out in Canada is growing steadily and our population is about 25% fully vaccinated to date.

Sabourin has also been at odds with Mother Nature this spring. In late May, a lightening strike sparked a forest fire near Musclow Lake that has roared through the North Arm towards Sabourin.

Thanks to the staff working at the lodge, along with the help from the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) fire crews, the fire was contained. Luckily we only lost 2 staff cabins.

Our focus now is to prepare for the 2022 season by continuing with the work we started last year on the renovations to the main lodge.

If you have a planned trip this season and have not already been contacted, or if you would like to book a fishing trip for 2022, please call or email Susan Penner at: 1-888-722-6874 or info@sabourinlake.com

We look forward to welcoming you back to the best fishing Canada has to offer in 2022.

Thank you for all your kind messages of support. We can’t wait to see you all next year!

Sincerely,

Wayne, Pureza, Susan and the Williams family
